Members met on Monday 17th February at the regular venue, Morton Village Hall. The presentation was a talk by the mysterious Do Do De and was entitled Scintillating Leaves on the Tree of Life. Members were all given a Tree of Life’ where there were various titles representing aspects of Do Do Dee’s experiences. She first of all gave everyone a brief introduction about her background, while members had time to think about which leaf they would like to uncover.
Amongst others they heard her anecdotes about music, theatre, motorbikes, belly dancing and faith, and Do Do De expanded on each topic, with reminiscences and great clarity. Humour was a centrepiece to what she had to say, with some illustrative props and photographs. Central to what Do Do De had to say were two mottos: firstly, finding positives out of negatives; secondly, let’s have fun. And everyone did. All members received a special gift of an envelope, a card and a poem at the end.
A slide show of Old Gainsborough will take place at Melrose Sports and Social Club on Wednesday 26th February at 7.30pm. Everyone is welcome and there will be a £2 entry fee.
