Managers from Galatia teamed up with Tesco and took to the shop floor as part of a food drive in aid of charity FareShare.

Six staff worked in shifts to hold the food drive in the Tesco store in Gainsborough.

Based at the stores entrance they worked tirelessly to collect generous food donations from shoppers, which will be used by FareShare to help people in the local community who struggle to afford to eat.

The team included northern operations director Darroch Baker, general manager Chris Cuthbert, planned works supervisors Jan Glover and Mick Henstock, as well as project manager Andy McNaught and service controller Elise Mell.

Chris Cuthbert said: “It was a pleasure to take part in the FareShare food drive, seeing so many people give so generously was very rewarding.”

“The number of people who donated was remarkable.”

“Even those who were less fortunate donated a tin of food, and it’s these small sacrifices that make the difference to FareShare which do so much for the Galatia community.”

Before completing their shift at the store each member of the Galatia team filled a basket with food, adding to the impressive donations received.

Galatia Board Member, Mick Williamson, said: “As a company we are working to make a real and positive difference to the lives of people living locally.”

“We aim to do this through volunteer projects, fundraising initiatives, and charity partnerships with organisations such as FareShare.”

“We want to play an active part in delivering initiatives that leave a real legacy and help communities through these current austere times.”

The food drive comes after the community actions of Willmott Dixon staff received a Queen’s Award for Enterprise in Sustainable Development.

Galatia is an innovative joint venture formed by affordable housing provider Acis Group and Willmott Dixon Partnerships in 2012 which provides an integrated approach to repairs and maintenance.
