Gainsborough Choral Society’s new season starts on Thursday, September 3 when rehearsals begin for their first concert of the season.

This will be on November 14, when they perform Haydn’s 18th Century masterpiece, The Creation.

Rehearsals are held on Thursday nights throughout the school terms (September to March) from 7.30-9.15pm at Queen Elizabeth’s High School on Morton Terrace in Gainsborough.

“If you would like to join in we are always keen to welcome new members, tenors and basses in particular,” said choir member Carolyn Walton.

“There are no voice trials or auditions necessary.

“Just get in touch with our secretary Deirdre Speed on 07710 535725 or emailinfo@gainsboroughcs.co.uk.”

If, on the other hand, you don’t want to sing regularly but would like to learn a few familiar old favourites, the society has arranged a day-long workshop with Sue Hollingworth at Glentworth Village Hall on Sunday October 18 from 10am to 4pm.

The cost per person for the day is £10.

For more information, please contact Pam Tatam on 01427 668412 or Carolyn Walton on 01427 668418.
