West Lindsey’s Growth team are looking for unique and innovative projects which will regenerate the area, bringing more shoppers and business to Gainsborough’s currently underutilised and historic Market Place.
This opportunity has been made possible due to funding from the High Street Innovation Fund, which has the overall objective of reducing the number of empty properties in towns across the nation.
West Lindsey District Coun Owen Bierley, chair of the Prosperous Communities Committee said: “This is a great opportunity for anyone who has ambitions to open a business or expand within Gainsborough. It’s heartening to see these properties coming back into use and this fund will make it easier.”
Projects will need to meet one or more of the following objectives to be considered, these include reducing the number of empty shops in the Market Place, increasing footfall in the area, visual improvements and development of innovative and unique solutions which will benefit multiple businesses and the local community.
This funding is aimed at businesses and organisations who want to develop projects in Market Place, Market Street, Silver Street, Lord Street and Church Street (up to Roseway Junction).
Projects will be scored against a set criteria, including whether the project fits in with the ethos of the High Street Innovation Fund and reduces empty shops and if the schemes represent value for money. Projects also need to demonstrate a track record of delivery and must show clear outcomes to be considered. All applications will need to be submitted by 28th August.
