Families flocked to Marshall’s Yard to enjoy a day of history, heritage and fun in the sunshine for Father’s Day on Sunday, June 17.

There was plenty going on throughout the day with a large display of vintage Marshall’s Tractors which return to the site every year for the annual event.

The Gainsborough Salvation Army Brass Band performed over lunch time and free face painting was on offer for the children.

Charlotte Toplass, Assistant Centre Manager at Marshall’s Yard said: “This was a fantastic day for everyone, it is always great to have the vintage tractors visit the centre and lovely to have the sound and the smell of the vehicles which are such a big part of the centre’s history.”

Tractors travelled from right across the country, including some from the south of England to take part in the annual pilgrimage to Marshall’s Yard.

Charlotte added: “The heritage of this centre is very important to the town’s residents and it’s therefore important to remember what Marshall’s originally made the town famous for. People come from far and wide to see the tractors in their original home and we are hugely grateful to the owners for bringing them here for people to enjoy.”

The shopping centre team is planning to erect a plaque to remember the key members of the Marshall’s Club who work so hard to keep the heritage of these impressive feats of engineering alive.

The centre has hosted a number of events already this year and is next looking towards the end of the month where the centre’s first ever Wartime event will be held commemorating 100 years since the end of WW1 and another part of history.

The event will take place on June 30.
