FIRE crews were called out to a blaze at Warren Wood in Gainsborough.

At around 2.08pm on Sunday 22nd May, emergency services attended a report of a fire in the grassland and woodland at Warren Wood, off Foxby Lane.

The blaze was later extinguished by six appliances from Gainsborough, Saxilby and Misterton.

However, severe damage was caused to around 3,500 square metres of woodland in the area.

Linconlshire Fire and Rescue say the cause was carelessly discarded smoking materials.

Fire authorities would also like to take this opportunity to remind all residents and businesses to take extra care when disposing of smoking materials, especially in open areas.
