Flood alert for Gainsborough

Areas of Gainsborough are at risk of flooding due to heavy rainfall.

Levels on the Tidal River Trent are high in response to high tides and heavy rainfall draining from the area, say the Flood Information Service.

As a result, flooding of low lying agricultural land and roads around Gainsborough is currently possible.

Lea Marsh, Gainsborough, Morton, East and West Stockwith, Trent Wharfage, Gainsborough Railway bridge and Beckingham Marshes are likely to be affected with each high tide at Gainsborough.

The service said: “We urge residents to prepare, remain vigilant and avoid walking and driving through flood water.

“e are closely monitoring the situation. We have teams on the ground checking defences, clearing channels and operating structures.”
