Police are appealing for witnesses and appealing for residents to take extra care after a home in Gainsborough was burgled in the early hours of this morning (Friday 5th April).
Gainsborough Police received a report of a dwelling burglary on St Andrews Court.
The burglary is thought to have happened between the hours of 1am and 3.45am.
A Gainsborough Police spokesman said: “Offenders have forced a downstairs kitchen window in order to gain access to the property whilst the occupants were in bed asleep. A search was made of the downstairs rooms and several items of value have been stolen including a set of car keys and Ford Focus car, a laptop and other electrical items.”
They continued: “Whilst this message is an appeal for any witnesses to come forward, it is also a reminder to all residents to be vigilant and try not to leave items of value on show or easily accessible to thieves. Where possible consider taking car keys to your bedroom with you at night to ensure that they are not readily available in the unfortunate event of a burglary.”
“We would also advise residents to keep a record of high value property kept within the house including makes, models and serial numbers of electrical items. It is a good idea to photograph Jewellery and ornaments etc to assist us in recovering any such stolen items.”
Any witnesses or anyone with any information is asked to call 101 and quote Incident 39 of 5th April.
