Community groups can claim cash funds

Community groups from around West Lindsey are being urged to take a chance and apply for a share of the Community Chest fund.

West Lindsey District Council (WLDC) is re-launching the Community Action and Volunteering Fund (CAV Fund) – under a new name and with more cash up for grabs.

The ‘Community Chest Fund’ enables groups to apply for up to £500 to help them with their local projects – previously the maximum was £250.

Areas which are developing a community plan or implementing actions from a current community plan can apply for up to £1,000 to help with this.

Director of communities and localism Rachel North said: “The launch of the Community Chest and the increase in the funds available will hopefully be able to help a lot more groups in our area.”

“The CAV Fund was very successful in its first year and this shows how small sums of money can make a big difference to local community action. It supports West Lindsey District Council’s objectives to work more closely with our communities.”

She added: “We now want to make it even more attractive by increasing the amount of grant a community can apply for and positively encouraging Community Led Plans.”

Fiona White, chief executive of Community Lincs, said: “The ability to access small amounts of money has enabled groups to deliver some exceptional projects and activities.”

A special celebration event will be held to showcase the projects that have already received funding and applaud their achievements.

A WLDC spokesman said: “It will demonstrate the real value of volunteering in West Lindsey and how this fund can work for your group.”

The event will be held on Tuesday 16th April in Glentworth Village Hall at 6.30pm.

If you would like to apply for funding or you would like to attend the event then you can call 01529 301970 or email
