Worksop: Company secures contracts at Wimbledon and famous festivals

A Worksop business which specialises in aluminium panels for use at outdoor events and other sectors has won contracts at Wimbledon and world famous festivals.

LION Trackhire, has secured a new contract with the All England Lawn Tennis Club to provide to provide temporary roadway and pedestrian walkway solutions at Wimbledon and a multi-year agreement with Festival Republic - including their Leeds and Reading Festivals - to provide trackway and fencing to their events.

These contracts come on the back of earlier success, when the company won a contract to supply panels for the London Olympics and the Chelsea Flower Show.

The business is Europe’s fastest growing provider of portable roadways and ground cover and operates from a purpose built two acre site on Claylands Avenue, in Worksop.

There the facilities provide efficiencies for the business including a weighbridge and a specialist area which harvests rainwater and ensures effective cleaning of panels on return from sites.

The business was established in 2009, currently employs more 80 staff and has a fleet of over 20 lorries.

In 2010, the business opened an office in Germany to support its European expansion, primarily in the renewable energy sector.

General manager, Gordon McKay, said: “The latest contract wins support our strategic growth plans and will see the UK operation grow revenue from £1 million in 2010 to around £8 million in UK in 2013 and will result in further job creation during 2013.”
