A GAINSBOROUGH van and truck hire firm has gone into liquidation.

The company, 38self, was based on the Corringham Road Industrial Estate and employed two staff.

Its vehicle fleet of 38 vehicles were sold at auction earlier this week by CJM Asset Management.

The downfall of the business is being blamed on the economic climate.

“The downturn in business activity is having a knock-on effect on demand for van hire,” said CJM director Paul Cooper.

“The owners of 38selfdrive have struggled to keep going, trying everything they could to drum up new business, but sadly events have overtaken them.”

“The liquidators now dealing with the business have sent the vehicle fleet to us for disposal and I have to say they are amongst the best commercial vehicles we have put under the hammer here in Scunthorpe.”

“They’re all less than five years old and in very good condition. They have been well cared for.”

“It is clear the owners of the business did all they could to offer a high quality service.”

All the vehicles were sold at auction in Scunthorpe on Tuesday for between £6,000 and £11,000 each. The money will be sent to the liquidator.
