Five members of staff from Sturton by Stow Primary School are taking a leap of faith this weekend with a 15,000ft tandem skydive to raise funds for their Project Playground initiative.
The team of five – Ruth Hodges, Charlotte Evans, Jenna Elliott,Phil Hukin and Pam Jenkins – will all take to the skies on Sunday, July 10 at Hibaldstow in North Lincolnshire, the location of the UK’s highest skydive.
Alison Simmon, headtacher at the school, commented: “We are extremely proud of our skydiving team and their bravery to help raise funds to transform the school playground for our pupils.
“The project will see significant investment to transform the outdoor space by creating different areas to inspire the children.”
The original outside space at the school was not designed to inspire today’s children, so Project Playground was born to start to transform it.
The work will see the creation of six play areas, which will include a redevelopment of the sports zone, a relaxing seating area, a climbing zone and an outdoor class area.
Grant funding is being used, and additional fund-raising ideas are being developed to raise enough money to cover the shortfall.
If you think you could help with a donation please visit BT My Donate and search for charity Sturton by Stow School Fund.
All money raised via the page is going in full to support the project and not cover the cost of the jump.
