Bawtry cyclist dies in 4X4 collision near Tickhill

Police are appealing for witnesses after a 23-year-old man died after a collision between a 4x4 and a pedal cycle near Tickhill yesterday evening.

A silver Land Rover Freelander and a silver Carrera pedal bike were both travelling from Rossington towards Tickhill on Stripe Road just after 8.05pm yesterday (Thursday 8th September).

As the two vehicles approached the junction with High Common Lane, the Freelander collided with the rear wheel of the pedal cycle.

The pedal cyclist, a 23-year-old Bawtry man, sustained fatal head injuries from the collision.

The driver of the Freelander, an 85-year-old local man, was not injured.

The cause of the collision is unknown at this time. Officers are keen to hear from anyone who witnessed the incident and for information about the movements of both vehicles prior to the collision.
