A MEETING of the special committee appointed at the recent town’s meeting to interview Sir Hickman Bacon on the question of a park being provided in celebration of the Coronation was held on Monday at the Council Offices.

The chairman, Coun Wilkinson, informed Sir Hickman that the town were anxious to re-open the question of a public park and thanked him for according the council an interview on the matter.

He referred to Sir Hickman’s offer in April 1907 and said that the committee were unanimous in agreeing that the site then mentioned was the most favourable and suitable that could be found. However, Sir Hickman said he could not fix up a scheme during the present year.
