2nd October, 1987: NEW PARISH PLAN FOR EX-RAF BASE
CHANGES which have seen the former RAF Hemswell transformed into a thriving industrial “town” could soon be recognised with the birth of a new parish.
This was revealed to West Lindsey’s Planning Committee when members heard that few of the units at the former base were not either occupied or the subject of planning applications.
The latest was an application to turn the former prison at the site into an aircraft museum. This scheme would also involve a static display on a large grassed area nearby. Development Control Assistant Mr Jim Grundy said most of the units at the former RAF base had now been given planning permission, with various uses.
