10th July, 1987: TRINITY GET BACK TO WORK
GAINSBOROUGH Trinity began training for the new season this week with two sessions under manager Chris Stanley and assistant Roy Ford.
“We have made a good start and will be building up the pressure as the players get into the swing of things,” said Mr Stanley yesterday.
As far as team building was concerned he said things were moving, although slowly.
“The nucleus of the side is coming together but he is facing the same problem which always arises in early July - that so many clubs are in the market for players and so many players are shopping around to get the best deal from clubs.”
The draw for the first round of the FA Cup has pitted Trinity away to Matlock Town.
