Met in the Old Schoolroom with Councillor Chris Elkington in the chair. Apologies were received from Councillors G. Widdison and R. Butroid. Others present were three local residentand the clerk. The minutes and accounts were agreed and the clerk gave a report of general maintenance either completed or in hand. Quotes have been obtained for a new bus shelter on the east side of Stow Road. It was agreed to pay £100 for the Internal Audit fee, fire extinguisher testing and the subscription of £5 to the Lincs Fieldpath’s Association. A report of local crime incidents was read out. The Evergreens Summer Garden Party will be held at 36 The Close on Wednesday 16th July and the Summer Outing is to Scarborough on Tuesday 12th August. The Recreation Field Summer Marquee Party will be held on Saturday 5th July. The stile on Kisgate at the Fleets Road end is to be renewed or refurbished. It was agreed in principle to purchase the land near the Quaker Cemetery for a nominal fee and its use to be decided later. A new parish council notice board is to be sited alongside the footpath on the village green. The annual RoSPA play park inspections are being organised and the cleaning and refurbishment of the war memorial are all in hand. Some Parish records will be on display at the history society Open Day on Saturday 26th July. Comments were made on a planning application for Reserved Matters for three detached dormer houses - Obam Lifts. An application for an extension at 69 Saxilby Road has been withdrawn.


Bargain hunters browsed among the variety of stalls at the monthly market held in Sturton Village Hall. Visitors enjoyed refreshments and the lucky number was unclaimed and will be worth £40 next month.

Women’s Institute

Will meet in Sturton Village Hall on Tuesday 17th June at 7.30pm when the speaker will be Dorothy Ward with a talk entitled At the Drop of a Hat. The Roll Call will be A Type of Hat and the competition will be -a hat. Sadly due to the inclement weather the proposed picnic in the Jubilee Wood had to be postponed.

History Society

Will meet in Sturton Village Hall on Wednesday 18th June at 7.30pm when the president will give her annual talk telling about An 18th Century Lincolnshire Doctor. There will be no meeting on Wednesday 16th July or on Wednesday 20th August. The annual open day will be held in Sturton Village Hall on Saturday 26th July and it is hoped to arrange an outing for a date in August.

Recreation Field

The annual summer marquee party will be held on the recreation field on Saturday 5th July with the usual attractions. Look out for posters in the village for further details.
