Man admits coffee theft

A WORKSOP man stole four jars of coffee to feed his drug addiction, a court heard.

Ian Joseph, 34, of Queen Street admitted taking the coffee, worth £23.46, from Tesco in Worksop on 31st May.

Worksop Magistrates Court heard that the coffee had been recovered by the store and Joseph made full admissions in police interview.

David Verity, defending, said: “At the moment his drug problem is more serious than his drink problem and he is desperate to get proper help.”

“He came out of custody on 24th May. He had no address and slipped back into drink and drug problems,” he added.

The case was adjourned for pre-sentence reports. He will next appear on 5th July.
