COMMUNITY: Don’t Dump Your Garden Waste

Bassetlaw District Council is issuing a reminder that dumping garden waste in/under hedges, in ditches, or on someone else’s land, is flytipping, and risks a fixed penalty ticket or prosecution with a fine of up to £95,000 and three years’ imprisonment. Just because the waste will compost down does not mean that it is not flytipping.

After a report of an incident in Misterton, officers are now patrolling the Misterton/West Stockwith area.

Garden waste can be composted at home or taken to the household waste recycling centre in Retford.

Vehicles must be registered to take items to the recycling centre – do this online at www.nottinghamshire.gov.uk or phone 0300 500 8080.

If you wish to discuss this, contact the council’s environmental health department on 01909 533172.
