At their annual general meeting and speaker meeting on Monday, April 18, 28 members welcomed their speaker Rob Chapman, who spoke about caring for Victorian Violas. Rob informed members that he started gardening, many years ago, at eight years of age, under the guidance of his uncle Joe. Rob was head gardener at Springfield’s Nurseries in the 1980/90’s and then progressed to owning his own nursery, until he retired.

Rob has won gold medals at Chelsea and other flower shows and exports his special violas all over the world.

The next speaker meeting will be Monday, May 16, in the recreation room, Beckingham at 7pm. The speaker will be Tom Wyman, speaking about Hostas and general questions and answers.

Future events for the club are: June 20 - visit to The Elms, North Leverton; July 18 - visit to Bolham Manor Retford; August 15 - visit to The Japanese Garden, North Clifton; Saturday, September 17 - Beckingham Garden Club flower and vegetable show. The show is open to members and non-members.

All meetings start at 7pm and are held in the Recreation Room, Beckingham.
