New operator to open 24-hour gym at Marshall's Yard in Gainsborough after collapse of DW Sports Fitness

A global fitness brand has taken over a disused unit at Marshall’s Yard in Gainsborough to create a new 24-hour gym.

Snap Fitness has occupied the space formerly home to DW Sports Fitness, which closed when the company went into administration in August shortly after reopening from lockdown .

Hannah Foster, who will manage the franchise, said: “We are really excited about opening our new gym in December.

"It's going to look fantastic and we’re sure gym goers will be impressed and will be ready to join us on their fitness journey.”

The new look gym is currently being fitted out with the latest state of the art fitness equipment.

Plans include cardio and resistance areas as well as a large free weights section, spacious fitness studio with a timetable of group classes, and functional area with training aids.

The swimming pool at the gym will be operated separately.

Despite the new look, the gym will be headed up by some familiar faces.

Former DW Fitness manager Alex Colebrook and assistant manager Laura Markham have been retained by Snap.

Hannah added: “We are really pleased that Alex and Laura are joining the team and working with us.”

Charlotte Toplass, tenant liaison executive at Marshall’s Yard, said: “We are delighted to be welcoming Snap to the Yard and we’re confident they’ll be a great addition.

“The news is going to be really well received by former members of DW who have been so keen to hear of a new operator taking over the gym.”

Members will be able to take on a monthly rolling membership without a six- or 12-month contract.

The nationwide DW Sports Fitness chain ran into financial trouble due to COVID-19, when both its gyms and retail stores were forced to close while managing a wage bill of £3million a month.

When it collapsed, Mike Ashley’s Frasers Group bought 46 leisure clubs and 31 retail outlets but will operate under a new name.
