ONE of Gainsborough’s finest drama groups are gearing up for a brand new production all about the youthful dream of fame and fortune.

Gainsborough Theatre Company will be performing ‘Like A Virgin’ at The Old Nick Theatre next week.

This powerful play with music is a romp through the bubble-gum years of teenage life and being obsessed with pop sensation Madonna.

“It’s a play about young people trying to be like their role model, Madonna,” said John Derbyshire from GTC.

“As they search for fame and fortune, their tale is full of laughter, energy and all of the joys and tears that come as part of growing up.”

John continued: “Rehearsals have been going really well.”

“They are in the final throws of putting the songs together, the costumes are ready and the set looks wonderful.”

“The musicians are ready to play and I’d definitely say that we have a wide range of talent on show.”

He added: “We have some new members taking part as well as some who have been with us for years and I hope people can come along and enjoy this great show which a lot of work has gone into.”

Gainsborough Theatre Company perform Like A Virgin at The Old Nick Theatre, Gainsborough from Monday 9th to Saturday 14th May.

Shows start at 7.30pm and tickets are £5. For tickets and information call 01427 810616 or visit www.gainsboroughtheatrecompany.com
