Gainsborough musician Robin Spencer and his band Elephants and Castles are set to release their first EP.

Robin now lives in north London where he met the rest of his bandmates in the Elephant and Castle area of the city which gives the band their name.

He said: “I now live in London but come up regularly to see my family and friends who are all still in Gainsborough and the surrounding area.

“My musical education was all in the town.

“ I went to Parish Church School and Queen Elizabeth’s High School.”

The band’s new EP is called What’s Left For Larry and Janet? and is a reaction and social comment on the steady and seemingly unstoppable decline of areas like Elephant and Castle,

Robin added: “We met, live, work and play in the Elephant and Castle, an area that is disappearing, fast.

“The money men have bulldozed a community, leaving behind a gentrified social and cultural wasteland.”

The EP, which is out on December 5, follows their two singles which were highly acclaimed by the national music media, including NME, Q Magazine, BBC 6 Music and XFM.
