TRINITY'S poor home form of last year continued into 2009, as they were unable to hold on to a lead against struggling Solihull Moors.
A Lewis McMahon penalty gave The Blues the adavantage, but Solihull equalised soon after and the sides battled to a stalemate.

Manager Steve Charles made five changes to the side that took on Kings Lynn. Colin Marrison and Simon Bird joined Luke Beckett up front in a 3-pronged attack.

James Lukic returned in place of Nicky Ellis and James Cullingworth made his first start for Trinity, replacing Gareth Davies at right back, as Davies was suffering from 'flu.

Matt Austin took the place of Danny Anson, who was suspended, with McMahon taking the captain's armband.
Charles had opted to stick with 4-3-3 formation that had caused Kings Lynn so much bother in the second half on New Year's Day. But sadly, the front three were unable to cause similar problems for the physical Moors defence.

Simon Bird went close after four minutes, when Beckett nodded on an Ian Ross corner, and Bird tried to turn the ball over his shoulder goalwards, only to be denied by Daniel Crane in the Moors goal.
Moments later, the recalled Marrison had a golden opportunity to give The Blues an early lead when he blazed over from Cullingworth's right wing cross.

The visitors did cause Trinity problems from set pieces, particularly from Jake Sedgemore's corners, which were delivered with accuracy right under the cross bar, leaving the defence scrambling.

The Trinity was looking uncomfortable and unbalanced, and Charles rectified this at half time by introducing Chris Hall to replace Bird.
Hall was immediately into his stride down the left, and a quick counter saw Hall cover 60 yards very quickly and unleash a powerful shot that Crane saved.

And it was Hall who managed to link up with Marrison to win the penalty that gave Trinity the lead (65). Hall found Marrison by the goal line, but Alex Price clipped Marrison from behind.
McMahon stepped up and drove the spot kick into the right hand corner with power for his 10th goal of the season.

The goal stung the visiting side into life, and they equalised seven minutes later. Sollitt turned Liam Daly's looping header on to the bar, but Junior English reacted fastest to bundle the over the line.
Solihull managed to hang on for a draw despite Trinity's pressure, and continued their mini recovery, which has seen them now avoid defeat in their last four games.

After the game, Charles said: "I'm not really happy, it wasn't a great game and we haven't played very well. We know what to expect from them, they don't allow teams to get the ball down and play like we like to do."

"We have wasted too many chances, which seems to be the story of the season."
"The lads weren't happy with the system, so we had to sacrifice Simon Bird, and I felt sorry for him, but when Chris Hall came on he caused them trouble."
