Blues sign Davies

GAINSBOROUGH Trinty have signed the former Chesterfield player Gareth Davies despite strong interest from League Two side Accrington Stanley and Blue Square Premier outfit Mansfield Town.
Davies (25) played over 130 games for the Spireites before joining former Blue Square Premier club Halifax Town in February.
He is a right-sided player who can play at full back or in midfield and he has signed a one-year deal with the Blues.
For ther second consecutive season Trinity will play Southport in the opening match of the new Blue Square North campaign.
Last season they were away for the first match but this season they will entertain the former Football League club on the Northolme on August 9.
