Gainsborough Trinity return to action this week with two away games at Droylesden (Saturday) and Alfreton Town (Tuesday).
The Blues have been successful away from home this season, taking 10 points from a possible 15 away from the Northolme.
Both opponents sit just a point behind Trinity in the Blue Square North, and the table is looking very congested so any victor
y has massive consequences and can make a huge difference to the table.
Trinity boss Steve Charles spoke to the Standard this week ahead of the weekend fixtures. “Our away form has been good so far this season, and long may it continue. I watched Alfreton on Saturday, and we’ve looked at Droylesden, and although they are all hard games, we’ve nothing to fear going into them.” The Blues should be boosted by the return of captain Danny Anson, who has been missing with a groin problem, and the return of centre back Nicky Ellis, who missed the defeat to Fleetwood due to personal reasons. Charles also spoke about the response to that defeat “We have worked on several things over the last week, we’ve had several good sessions and are looking forward to the weekend.”
Trinity have also received a boost with the news that Liam Needham may be ready for a return to action before Christmas. Needham underwent surgery this week in a bid to cure his long-standing ankle problem. “We’ve got to wait to see how he responds, the surgeon said it was a cartilage problem, but there may be some ligament damage remaining, but we’re hopeful that Liam will be back with us soon ”
Trinity boss Charles has also allowed two defenders to leave the club this week. Adam Burley has joined Hendesford Town on a permanent deal, while James Dudgeon, who made his first appearance of the season against Fleetwood, has joined local rivals Worksop on a month’s loan.
