Gainsborough Aegir Cycling club members Trevor Halstead and Daniel Nicholson braved the wintry conditions for last multiple option ride in the present series, choosing to ride to Retford using salted roads.
They departed Roseway in Gainsborough Town Centre, crossed over Gainsborough Trent Bridge and, now in Nottinghamshire, followed the A631 and A620 to Retford.
Departing Retford along Leverton Road, the riders made the steep climb of Schrog Hill.
At a height of 91 metres above sea level the snow-covered landscape was spectacular.
The riders then headed homewards passing through North Leverton, Sturton-le-Steeple, Saundby and Beckingham, returning into Gainsborough along the A631.
It was a hard 25-mile ride with plenty of hill climbing, and a strong head wind made the ride home difficult.
Next weeks events: 31st March - Figure of eight leisure ride with a noon till 1pm lunch stop at Café Latte in Lord Street, Gainsborough; meet Roseway, Gainsborough, 9.20am (15 miles each), suitable for families and beginners.
