RACELINE: Tip of the day 3rd February

The racing today is as good, if not better, than the fare that was on show yesterday. Here is the strongest fancy of our resident tipster:

Sunday 3rd February

TAP NIGHT

Musselburgh 2.00 WIN

The progressive track of Musselburgh stages one of the best jump racing cards of the entire season today -- and one of the star performers could be Lucinda Russell’s exciting six-year-old. Bought by legendary owner JP McManus after winning on his seasonal debut, he produced a polished first performance over fences at Ayr a month ago. Now he steps up in class and trip, but is expected to take both in his stride. With Tony McCoy on duty in Ireland, it is significant that JP has turned to the brilliant Barry Geraghty as his replacement. If he gets the job done, the likeable gelding, who claimed the scalp of Captain Conan over hurdles last season, will be heading for the Cheltenham Festival next month.

TIP OF THE DAY SUPPLIED BY SCOOP RACING (RICHARD SILVERWOOD).
