A local rider recorded the second quickest time out of 500 riders in the Santini Lincoln Grand Prix 97 mile Sportive last weekend.
Five Trent Valley Road Club riders took on the gruelling route, and it was James Vickers who smashed home in an impressive 5:17:08 to take second place.
Andrew Codd was also in form, crossing the line in 5:59:51.
Clubmates Carl Claypole and Paul Keating made it home in 7:14:20 and 6:39:32 respectively, while Adam Kingscott failed to finish after some problems on the ride.
In the 75 mile race father and son duo Chris and Mike Overton joined Michael Freeman, and the trio finished in 5:58:00.
Completing the club’s representation at the event, Paul Freeman finished the 55 mile route in 3:44:37, ahead of David Bailey finishing his first sportive in 3:56:35 and Mark Johnson rode it in 3:37:43.
In the Cycle Barn circuit race league on Thursday Rob Webster won the first race of the second event of the season with James Vickers in second and Paul Pycroft third.
The second race was won by Shaun Pycroft, followed by Paul Pycroft in second and Adam Kingscott in third.
The Cycle Barn Evening TT league is also starting to heat up as the offer of prize money acts as an incentive to attract more riders and tougher competition.
Andy Codd stayed strong and maintained his advantage riding the fastest time of the day.
