Members of Gainsborough and Morton Striders put in some ultra-performances recently, including the Hardmoors 110 miles Challenge.
Jerry McCulla and Tom Humphries finished joint eighth in the Hardmoors 110 mile classic which followed the Cleveland Way National Trail, encircled the North Yorks Moors and the Cleveland Heritage Coastline.
McCulla and Humphries completed the Challenge in a magnificent 27 hours 40 minutes 50 seconds for 113 miles.
A quartet of Striders tackled the Dukeries Ultra 40 mile race.
Paul Dagg (V35) led them home claiming eighth place in a time of 6:57:09 s on a course that started and finished in Sherwood Forest, and also included a crossing of Creswell Cragg and the Wellbeck Estate.
Emma Humphries (FV40) finished 13th in 7 :01:44 which earned third lady finisher.
Nigel Bowler (V50) and Sophie Hempsall (FV35) completed the course in 7:19:31 and 7:39:20 respectively.
At the other end of the distance scale, a dozen Striders entered the Lincoln Wellington AC 5K Summer Road Race Series, based at Yarborough.
Phil Kitchen led a trio of Veterans in the V40 age group slicing a majestic 32 seconds off his season’s best time to finish seventh in 19:07 .
Simon Hunt finished 16th in 21:16 with Chris Inman crossing the line in 22:54.
In the Veteran Ladies race, Helen Robinson was first lady in 20:45 and Lottie Lindley was second in 24:32.
Lorna Allison was the first of four Striders in the Senior Ladies, finishing third in 20:02.
Clare Hardwick (seventh 23:58), Sophie Hempsall (eighth 24:24) and Vikki Hearn (ninth 24:35) followed.
In the Senior Mens race, Jon Drake ran a personal best of 18:00 for ninth place, with Matt Huteson 10th in 18:38 and Carl Currie 18th in 20:41.
Shannon Conway finished an excellent third in the U13 Girls 3K race in a time of 13:22.
At the Lincoln 5K parkrun, Phil Kitchen carved out 20:00, including 5:42 for the final mile.
Chris Inman recorded the same time as he ran at the Lincoln Wellington race, 22:54.
Elliott Clark led a trio of Striders at the Scunthorpe 5K parkrun in 18:28, Craig Ward running 20:28 and Joanne Clark 25:17.
In the Jane Tomlinson 10K at Hull, Lottie Lindley improved her personal best by over a minute with a time of 51:53.
The Morton Feast 5K run will take place on Friday 11th July. Further details to follow next week.”
