Teenager wins Scunthorpe 5k Parkrun

Elliott Clark, 15, won the Scunthorpe 5K parkrun in a personal best time of 18 mins 43 secs.

Gary Atkinson and son Jordan were the next two Striders home, in 20:14 and 24:51 respectively.

Alan Clark paced his wife around to a time of 25:20.

At the Lincoln 5K parkrun, Michaela Edwards equalled her best ever time of 28:33.

The Norton 9-mile road race saw Paul Dagg set a personal best of 54:55 and Norman Hindley (V60) recorded a fine time of 75:15.

Richard Cumbers, in an impressive debut half-marathon at Silverstone, ran 1 hour 45 mins 22 secs, while Emily Birch knocked 24 minutes off her previous best to record 2:01:55.

At the Golden Fleece 27.5 miles Challenge over the East Yorkshire Wolds, Emma Humphries claimed the second lady prize (15th overall) in 4 hours 22 mins.

Humphries was followed by her husband Tom, in 16th place, and Jerry McCulla in 18th.

Nigel Bowler completed the quartet’s excellent team effort with a time of 4 hours 38 mins.
