Cycling in Gainsborough is in rude health, with a number of very active clubs promoting races and weekly leisure rides.

A number of the area’s enthusiasts were out on the district’s roads on Sunday, for the National Road Championships.

Some of the world’s best cyclists, including Team Sky’s Pete Kennaugh, British sprint hero Mark Cavendish and Olympic medallist Lizzie Armitstead, were in action.

Several West Lindsey villages were graced by the cyclists, and spectators were out in their thousands, with cycle displays and bunting put out to welcome the visiting professionals.
