Gainsborough and Morton Strider Jordan Skelly made his first 10 mile road race look relatively easy.

The local youngster put in an impressive debut performance in the Askern Road Race, and finished seventh in a superb time of 58 minutes 34 seconds.

This places him fourth on the club’s all-time record list, and the fastest debut time since 1988.

The record was set by Phil Kitchen 27 years ago.

Angela Overson led a quartet of Gainsborough and Morton Striders over the picturesque Sherwood Pines 10km, running a time of 47:15.

Other Striders times were as follows: Glenn Peniston 49:18, Shaun Boyle 53:01 and Daniel Gleave 54:56.
