HEADING to Anglesey for rounds nine and 10 of the 250GP ACU National Championship, Saxilby’s Ant Hodson was hoping to extend his three point lead over his nearest rivals.
In Saturday’s qualifying Hodson claimed pole position for the weekends racing.
Saturday’s 13-lap race saw Hodson and Andy Sawford get away from the rest of the pack, but on lap seven third-placed Rich Grinling crashed out and the race was stopped.
A decision was made to run a six-lap sprint and remained in second to the flag.
Sunday’s 20-lap race began with Sawford moving straight into the lead.
Hodson needed a second-place finish so checking his pit board he decided to settle in that position, thinking of championship points instead of a challenge on the leader, and bringing his bike home behind the leader.
The Saxilby man has extended his championship lead to 11 points going into the next rounds in South Wales on 17th and 18th September.
