Local cyclists had to battle the conditions on a hot and breezy evening for last week’s Gainsborough Aegir time trial.
Due to road works the race course was shortened to 14.4 miles.
The riders started and finished on Carr Lane at the point where the road was closed.
Proceeding along Carr Lane and Laughton Lane towards Laughton, they continued through Laughton Forest to the t-junction where they turned left to Susworth.
The ride progressed along the riverside road through East Ferry and Wildsworth to East Stockwith to finish on Carr Lane.
Officials and helpers for the event were Daniel Nicholson, Mark Clark and Keith Bradford.
Results: 1st Ronnie Mcwilliam 35:55 (Velo Club Lincoln), 2nd Matt Fieldson 41:37 (Viking Velo), 3rd Steve Brown 46:02 (Scunthorpe Road Club), 4th Trevor Halstead 46:44 (Gainsborough Aegir Cycling Club).
Sunday’s leisure ride was a guided ride around the 29 mile Lincolnshire Cycle Routes Gainsborough ride.
A map of the ride is published by Lincolnshire County Council.
The riders who took part in the ride were Trevor Halstead, Dougie, Andy Prescott, Max Rackliff, Daniel Nicholson, Mark Clark and Geoff Garner.
On Thursday 9th July the club will host the annual Aegir Cycling Treasure Hunt.
Riders should meet at the Eight Jolly Brewers in Gainsborough at 6.30pm.
On Sunday 12th July the leisure ride is to Fledborough Viaduct, crossing the River Trent and meeting up with Sustrans Rides.
Cyclists should meet t Roseway, Gainsborough at 9.20am for the 50 mile ride.
On Wednesday 15th July a 10 mile time trial will be held, with entrants to meet at the layby on the A156 outside Lea at 6.45pm.
The first rider will be off at 7pm.
