A local youngster got to meet her sporting hero last week, at the English Institute of Sport.
Mia Swindell was going to the Sheffield facility with the St Anne’s school athletics team, for a competition organised by Outwood Academy sports leaders.
The plucky youngster decided to email Olympic gold medallist Jessica Ennis-Hill, who trains at the Institute, to ask if they could meet.
And when Mia turned up, she was in for a treat.
Mum Dawn told the Guardian: “She met and chatted to Jessica, who is her inspiration.”
“Jess made Mia’s day and it was lovely that she had received her email and chatted to her.”
“She asked Mia about her training with the Worksop Harriers and about her competitions.”
