The last few weeks have seen more success for Blitz Table Tennis Club, but on an individual note this time.
Harry Tomlinson, who was the club’s most improved player over the 2013/14 season, has carried on his improvement this season.
The youngsterhas been selected to play for the Notts County Junior team at this weekend’s county championships.
Having won numerous titles at a local level, and made some solid performances at National Junior League competitions, Tomlinson has now got his first county cap to add to his ever growing list of achievements.
Another player in the spotlight for the club is young up and coming star Darcie Proud, who has been selected to be part of the new England Youth Development Squad.
Proud, who travels on a weekly basis from Skegness to receive coaching from head coach Paul Johnson and training at the Gainsborough club, was first spotted by the senior performance coaches at the U11-14 national championships back in May.
She managed to reach the semi-final and get a bronze medal in the U11 girls age group.
Following that she was then invited to attend a selection camp for the Youth Development Squad and impressed so much that she was selected.
This Thursday marks the start of the club’s new adult social table tennis session, where all players, whether new to the sport or vastly experienced are welcome.
Following that this Sunday is the start of the National Cadet League competition, being held at the club in Gainsborough, where Blitz will have two teams in action.
Spectators are welcome to attend free of charge, with play commencing at 10am and finishing around 4pm.
