Despite fielding a strong side in idea conditions at the Thonock field, Gainsborough II went down 57-0 to North Hykeham II.

Unfortunately, over half of the Hykeham side consisted of players from their first team.

Both teams had equal ball possession early on, the Maoris making it hard for Hykeham.

Fifteen minutes into the match Hykeham opened up the scoring with a converted and this pattern of the match would not change.

Hykeham scored four more tries, three converted, to make the half-time score 26-0.

Scott Soulby made his debut on the wing in the second half, and Ben Watson showed his fearless ambitions, while young Oscar Rollings made a tackle that prevented a try.

But the visitors added to their score several times.
