Gainsborough Maoris were 19-10 victors over Barton and District RUFC on Saturday.
On a fine day, the Maoris got off to a good start with possession in Barton’s half that saw a drop goal by Sean Parker.
Barton had some periods of good attacking initiative but it came to a halt as Gainsborough’s scrum-half Nathan Haymer Bates ran in a try of his own.
Parker then landed a penalty and Kyle Dean gave Gainsborough their second try.
Barton hit back with two tries of their own but neither were converted.
The second half was more even, as both teams held a fair share of ball possession.
Barton tackled well but one error cost them as Parker kicked one final penalty.
The man of the match went to Daniel Dawson.
