Gainsborough RUFC cruise past Cresswell

Gainsborough emphatically beat Cresswell by eight tries at home to secure a 46-0 win.

Gainsborough welcomed Cresswell to their temporary home at the Gainsborough Academy and started off well in the thick fog with a breakaway try by Ross Duncan in the first 10 minutes.

This was converted by Tom Parkinson to make the score 7-0.

Cresswell are still looking for their first championship point of the season but that wasn’t going to happen today.

Youngster Jordan Tuplin then added to the All Blacks tally and ran over the line with well worked passes to touch down Gainsborough’s second try of the match.

Throughout the whole game the All Blacks produced really good tackles to please the home crowd.

With the score at 12-0 Daniel Chadwick retrieved the ball and used his strength to run through Cresswell’s defence to give his team another try to their collection and Tom Parkinson slotted home the conversion for a 19-0 lead at the break.

The second half begun and the All Blacks were giving a very good display of discipline and dominated the lineouts and scrums.

They turned possession into points near Cresswell’s try line as Gainsboroughs Andy Turner scored the fourth try of the match.

Gainsborough props made a real good account of themselves with good scrummaging in all areas of the pitch.

Gainsborough’s forward Ryan Woods then scored a try that was not converted.

The All Blacks were starting to enjoy enjoy themselves. Jordan Tuplin ran over for his second try of the match and Gainsborough’s fifth.

The lead now stretched to 39-0 and the All Blacks were clearly making Cresswells day more miserable than their season is panning out.

The game was coming close to the end but Will Cawte was still full of running and got in on the act and onto the scoresheet by scoring two tries with one being set up by Daniel Dawson, who crashed through two tackles before passing to Cawte.

One conversion was not successful but Tom Parkinson had the final say and scored the final conversion of the match from Will Cawte’s second try.

The full time score was 46-0 to All Blacks and man of the match was one of the two try heros and went to Will Cawte.
