The Isle of Axholme Pensioners’ League teams were both at home and the Northern Section had a comfortable victory over Wheatley, winning both rinks to take the maximum six points.

Beckingham’s Gainsborough League team visited Melrose for a preliminary round match in the Hazel Lawrence Trophy with several players missing through injury.

Beckingham were never in contention on three rinks, but they put up a fight in the triples before dropping four shots on the last two ends to go down 14-11.

Melrose won 83-31, a big win in contrast to last year’s matches when only a few shots separated the sides.

The annual match between The Champions and The Rest took place at Marshalls.
