A pair of Gainsborough boys represented their county in the British Gas ASA National County Team Championships.
The competition, opened by Team GB Olympic swimmers Ross Davenport and Jo Jackson, was held at Ponds Forge in Sheffield, where Aarron Smith and Ewan McKay formed part of the Lincolnshire team.
Smith, representing his county for the third time, was the first of the boys to swim, and swan an excellent backstroke leg in the 15/15 years 4x50m medley relay, helping his team to seventh.
McKay, making his debut in the competition, swam brilliantly in the 12/13 years 100m butterfly, smashing his personal best time for the event by over two seconds.
His performance helped Lincolnshire to sixth place.
The county team were 13th overall, out of 19 in attendance.
Ewan’s proud mother Debbie McKay told the Standard: “Both boys, who have been swimming with Gainsborough Dolphins since they were very young, really enjoyed the experience of swimming in a competition that showcased the best of junior swimming in England, Scotland and Wales.”
“They certainly did themselves, their parents, Gainsborough Dolphins swimming club and Lincolnshire proud.”
