Dinnington went into this game looking to improve on their performance of the previous week and although they showed a marked improvement in the first half, they lost their way in the second.

With 10 minutes played good interplay between forwards and backs set up an attacking platform and full-back Tim Burke came into the line at pace to break the home defence and score. Oliver Williamson converted.

Dinnington then started to play some of their best rugby of the season so far, but a momentary lapse in defence allowed Paviors to level the scores.

Dinnington reponded and they regained the lead five minutes later when they drove from a lineout and Williamson touched down. He also added the conversion. Having done the hard work to get in front, Dinnington again let Paviors in to level the scores and then, the home side scored again with a penalty to lead 17-14.

This did little to disrupt Dinnington’s attacking style and they dominated for the remainder of the half. In the final minutes, a kick and chase was won by Dinnington allowing them to regain possession and they then moved the ball wide to put Paul Kraus over in the corner to open up a 19-17 lead at the break.

An injury forced Dinnington to re-organise their line up and when they came out for the second half they looked a completely different team.

They competed for everything but just could not get going as they had done in the first 40 minutes. As the game slipped away, Dinnington tried to force their chances and as a result quite a few times the final pass failed to find its target. A disappointing defeat to end the year for the seconds, but a much better performance than last week.
