Competitions every day for the Captain’s Week at Worksop

Worksop Golf Club captain Keith Hearnshaw organised a different competition every day of last week, leading up to Captain’s Day on Saturday.

The annual Captain’s Week began on Saturday 16th June, and finished with the finale on 22nd.

Sunday was a yellow devil competition, when the winners were the team of Mick Bower, Brian Comer, Shane Atherton and Ray Black.

Monday saw an individual yellow tee stableford where Stuart Bell was victorious.

The individual ladies stableford on Tuesday was won by Helen Ikert, and a junior individual stableford went to Joseph Sweetnam.

Dough Mason won the over 55 individual stableford.

On Wednesday the gents played a betterball competition and Anthony Casey and David Dickinson won, before the ‘golfer and non golfer’ tournament over eight holes.

Steve Dever and his daughter won a very close fought ‘friendly’ competition.

Thursday’s pairs Texas scramble was won by Steve Topley and Jo Rose.

On Friday the AMAM went to Roy Dexter, Tony Caseldine, John Dexter and Bill Morrow.

A total of 180 golfers took part in Captain’s Day, with the individual stableford Division One title going to Wayne Bearder from Paul Clarke.

Division Two was won by Kevin Flood from Richard Smith, and Division Three by Lee Nixon from Pete Jackson.

All three winners scored 38 points, best gross was Darren Bradshaw (74) and the JF Whittelle Cup for the longest drives on the sixth, 16th and 17th was won by Martin Skinner’s 805 yards.

Captain’s presentation night saw over 100 members and partners enjoy an evening of entertainment to round off the week.
