Dave Copley and Les Savage were fourth a month ago but beat all of their rivals, including beating the previous three-times champions, Ray Robinson and Tom Whiteley, 26–8.

Copley and Savage then overcame John Alsop’s M4 23–11 to become champions.

Ian Hatton’s M2 team lost their last match against Keith Woffinden and Gordon Tucker (M1) 15–12.

They finished third behind Eric Dobbie’s M7 team, but with the best shots difference.

Had Hatton’s team won a measure on the last end against Dobbies team, instead of losing it, Ian’s team would have been champions.

Gainsborough Bowls League won five out of six rinks at Lincoln to win 122–98.
