This week has been all about half marathons for Gainsborough and Morton Striders.
At 13.1 miles these are always challenging runs but last weekend strong winds added to the difficulty.
The Nottingham Half Marathon saw Matt Lyner coming home in 1 hour 50 minutes 18 seconds and Simon Smith in 2-14-56 with both claiming to have enjoyed the experience.
On the same day Tom Humphries recorded 1 hour 27 minutes in the Isle of Axeholme.
Next weekend is the Great North Run and the club is well represented by Steven Gaffney, Shaun Boyle, Glenn Penniston and Simon Hall.
For Simon this will be the ninth time he has competed in the country’s largest half marathon.
Regardless of your long term goals, regular training is the key and the club continues to meet outside the High School at 5.30pm on Tuesdays for all runners and on Fridays for women only. New runners are always welcome to simply turn up but if you wish you can ring Kev on 07717 846035 or find the club on Facebook.
