It’s all change in the Thursday Daytime Pairs at West Lindsey Indoor Bowls Club, with Team 4, Alan Crookes and Ray Hargreaves, now on top.
After losing two of their first three, Team 4 have won four in a row including a 21-9 win over Team 8.
Defeat severley damaged Eric Dobbie and Bob Clifton’s hopes.
Previously Team 4 had comfortably beaten Bill Turner and John Hunt, Team 2, 19-12.
Team 4 were also helped by defeats for two rivals.
Barbara Allen and Rita Procter, Team 6, missed the chance to be joint top when losing 16-14 to Malcolm Moody and John Hunt, Team 2.
Previously Allen and Susan Mawer had climbed into contention with a vital 14-12 win over Bob Clifton and Dave Childs, Team 8.
Marjorie Ward’s Team 3, with Barbara Coy playing, dropped out of contention with their fourth defeat in a row.
They lost 13-9 to John Grooby and Keith Christian, Team 7.
This was Team 7’s second successive win after five successive defeats.
For Team 7 Ian Chapman and John Grooby got off the mark with an 18-11 win over Team 1, Geoff Gray and Keith Clarke.
Peter Mays’ Team 2, including Roy Marsh, Marlene Mays and John Hunt, continue to lead the Friday Daytime Mixed Triples.
After losing their first match they have won five in a row, beating Peter Taylor’s Team 5 by a narrow 18-16, having led 16-5.
Geoff Gray, Daphne Staff, and Dave Childs, Team 1, have made a great start to retaining their championship with five wins out of five including most recently beating Peter Taylor’s Team 5 by 19-16.
Audrey Rogers’ Team 3, with Bob Clifton, Joan Clifton and Keith Clarke, are strong contenders with four wins in a row a 16-8 win over Barry Grocock’s Team 9.
Audrey’s team have avoided Teams 1 and 2 but that is about to change so we will soon see how good they are.
Brenda Allen’s Team 8 still have an outside chance but they have narrowly failed the acid test, twice, by losing to Teams 1 and 2.
