TRINITY TRIO SHOWN DOOR

GAINSBOROUGH Trinity have announced that striker Colin Marrison, centre-back Nicky Ellis and right-sided player Gareth Davies will not receive new deals and can now find new clubs.

"I have given Nicky another chance this season," said Blues manager Steve Charles. "But he has been injured again and when he has played he has given away too many silly free-kicks that have cost us vital points."

"Colin and Gareth just haven't had the impact I had hoped for, so all three can look for a new club, that will help us."

A run of three defeats has effectively ended The Blues' chances of making the Blue Square North play-offs and there is a danger that with little to play for the club's season could peter out.

But Charles warned his players they must perform or they will be off-loaded at the end of the season.

Better news for Trinity is that key players Lewis McMahon and Chris Hall signed new deals last week to remain at the Northolme for next season, along with striker Luke Beckett who signed a new contract in January.

They have also signed defender Nathan Peat from Harrogate Town. A former Hull City trainee, he can play at either centre half or left back.

Peat joined York City in 2005 and then moved to Harrogate Town two years later.

Charles said the jury is still out on who among the rest of the squad will be retained.

"The lads now are battling for contracts for next season and they've got to show us that they want to be here and are prepared to fight for the club," he said.

"We are now looking to try and build towards next year. We've got to make sure we put a strong squad together for next year."

Trinity entertain Hucknall Town on the Northolme this Saturday, 14th March (kick-off 3pm).

The Blues won 2-1 in the away fixture at the beginning of the season and since then Hucknall have had a torrid time and are currently languishing at the bottom of the Conference North table.
