TWO young Gainsborough sportsmen have been recognised for their achievements, at the Lincs Sports Awards 2012.

Judo player and Olympic torchbearer Jack Hodgson was a finalist in the Young Disabled Sportsperson of the Year category, and cricketer Will Wright from Willingham by Stow was a finalist in the Young Sportsman of the Year section.

Almost 400 guests celebrated Lincolnshire’s year of sporting success at the annual event, organised by Lincs Sports Partnership to recognise those involved in sport and physical activity from across the county.

Janet Inman, chief executive of the partnership said: “The Lincs Sports Awards 2012 were a huge success; we celebrated and recognised some of our top sportsmen and women as well as volunteers, coaches, clubs and individuals whose lives have been impacted by sport.”

“Lincs Sports Partnership would like to thank host John Inverdale, local businesses and organisations for their support, guests and nominees for making the event so successful.”
