Schools deadlocked at top of league

RANSKILL and Blyth are locked at the top of the Bassetlaw Schools Football Division Five table, after a 2-2 draw. Blyth’s Joel Knight and Finlay Springthorpe matched two from Ranskill’s Lewis Clayton. The title race is likely to go to the wire.

The battle for the leadership of Division One continues. In a game in which goalkeepers Ethan Warner and Jack Booth were forced to bring out a number of top class saves, they could not stop the flow of goals as St John’s took a 3-0 lead through Bobby George, R.J. Oliver and Finlay Allison, only for Redlands to hit back with four through Diesel Webb, Tom McIntosh, Josh Nelson and Jack Tomlinson.

Sir Edmund Hillary finished all square with Prospect Hill when Kieron Houghton matched an excellent strike by Travis Matthews, then with Prospect and Redlands sharing top spot, Hillary went to Carr Hill knowing that the winners would make it a three-way tie at the top.

Carr Hill took the lead through Harvey Rogers but Daniel Scott (2), Cameron Harper, Travis Matthews and Daniel Hornigold retaliated with five for Hillary, to only one strike from Oliver Ashwell.

Ryton Park continue to dominate Division Two and consolidated their lead with a 4-1 defeat of St Augustine’s, with goals from McKenzie Day, Marshall Scott, Brooklyn Walsh and Josh Bailey.

North Leverton are running away with Division Seven and were clear winners against Haggonfields, when Billy Simkins, Adam Capsticks, Luke Bailey and Caden Burton were on target in a 6-0 win.

George Hudson, Dominic Murray and Josh Storey scored as Sturton-le-Steeple won a local derby against North Wheatley.
